When New York City opened the “High Line” linear park atop abandoned railroad tracks last summer, it was exciting but ultimately fairly short: about 6 blocks.  Now plans are in the works to add an additional 10 blocks or so, with varied features like the open space shown in this rendering.  Very cool.
